We offer social and personal development support through empowerment, knowledge & skills development, guidance and advocacy for people moving on from mental health difficulties, people who are isolated and vulnerable and people who are going through the asylum system or are destitute. This is called the Transitions Project.
This can involve a range of practical support with issues such as housing, welfare benefits or universal credit, budgeting in the home, financial literacy and food bank.
The programme also supports people to access financial support for further education or training, volunteering opportunities both at SOLA ARTS and with external organisations and opportunities to become more involved in creative opportunities around the city.
We also help people navigate the experience of being an asylum seeker including achieving legal advice support, accommodation and other needs. This includes supporting people who have become destitute due to a failed asylum claim into temporary host accommodation whilst they process to the next stage of their life journey.
The Transitions project is overseen and led by a resident Social Worker and supported by volunteers and our staff in the overall project team. We work closely with numerous partners both community and public sector to ensure the best opportunities and enable the people we support.
